Smok hatchling

In the rainforests of planet Smok IV the Earth Federation made first contact with a sentient being outside the Solar system. These creatures, strangely reminiscent of terran reptiles, have a relatively advanced civilization and are capable of producing human speech. Their technological level is comparable to that of the human Renaissance, but since they were introduced into the Federation they gained access to many advanced technologies, including interstellar travel and ray weapons. Here we see a reproduction of a "smok" hatchling by an unknown artist. The scripture on the shell is actually the name of the individual, which is chosen as soon as the egg has been laid.
