General Ivan Kolev, "The father of the bulgarian cavalry"
A distinguished bulgarian officer who participated in the Serbo-Bulgarian war, the two Balkan wars and the First world war. During WWI under his command the region of Southern Dobruja(Under romanian rule back then) was liberated. With the invention of modern machine guns and artillery many people considered the cavalry to be a thing of the past. However, general Kolev not only modernized the bulgarian horsemen but also won countless victories against romanians and russians alike.
